Events

Each year the Coalition hosts several events throughout the year.  This year we added a new event Flight Night in an effort to build the coalition and provide an opportunity for contributors, both new and previous, to learn about doing business with Sky Harbor and about upcoming projects.  The Coalition also hosts several mixers throughout the year as well as an Annual Dinner and Golf Tournament thanking our Board Member, Leadership Circle, and Advocate contributors.

Phoenix Youth At Risk

Each year the Support Sky Harbor Coalition hosts a silent auction and the annual dinner with proceeds going to Phoenix Youth at Risk.  Phoenix Youth at Risk transforms the lives of at-risk youth by providing a foundation of mentoring and curriculum that helps them build positive, goal-directed futures. Military & Veterans Hospitality Room at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport

Each year, proceeds from the Support Sky Harbor Annual Golf Tournament are contributed to the Military & Veterans Hospitality room in Terminal 2 to help continue to provide a location at the airport for military members, veterans, and their families.

The Military & Veteran’s Hospitality Room is an area where military members, veterans, and their families can have their own private space to wait for their flights or say their goodbyes to loved ones before departing. The room is located pre-security upstairs above the Terminal 2 lobby. It has sofas, chairs, computers, TVs, games, a kitchen, and even a play area for children. Water, soft drinks, snacks, and books are provided free of charge.

The Phoenix Military & Veterans Hospitality Room is part of the Phoenix Military & Veterans Commission. The Commission is a non-profit organization, funded by private donations.  The Hospitality Room was opened at the end of 2006. It is staffed by volunteers.  You can find more information here.

Greater Phoenix Youth at Risk wins “Spirit of Collaboration Award”

The Collaboration for a New Centuryidentifies “Blue Ribbon” human service agencies each year. Youth at Risk was originally named a “Blue Ribbon” agency in 2008.  But now, after a one-year partnership, Youth at Risk was again recognized; this time for exhibiting the spirit of collaboration. “Without the support of organizations such as Support Sky Harbor, we could never achieve a highly sought-after recognition such as this. We are poised to achieve strategic growth, to serve more at-risk and homeless children and to reach even greater success in the airport neighborhood and throughout the Valley,” said Linda Lyman, Youth at Risk President/CEO.
