Support Sky Harbor Coalition

"Mission: To educate about the economic and quality of life benefits that Sky Harbor brings to the people of Arizona and to support the continued development of Sky Harbor and the enhancement of its existing operations."

The Support Sky Harbor Coalition (SSHC) promotes Sky Harbor’s economic vitality and protects the airport and its regional benefits from attacks by disgruntled community groups who would thwart progress.

It was these kinds of groups that spurred local business leaders to establish SSHC in 2003, after polling showed near unanimous agreement that valley residents think the airport is convenient and significant to our economy as well as our quality of life. While every urban airport has its vocal dissenters, most people appreciate Sky Harbor’s benefits and don’t want dissenters thwarting progress.

The Support Sky Harbor Coalition’s mission is to educate the community about the importance of Sky Harbor and advocate on the airport’s behalf. Our activities can include:

Coalition building to support the airport
Outreach with the community, businesses and elected leaders
Communicating with the State Legislature when needed
E-mail bulletins and alerts
Relevant research
Mixers where members can share views and network with Sky Harbor decision makers
Protecting the airport from those who want to limit it, move it or take it over

The Support Sky Harbor Coalition is a non-profit 501(c)(4) corporation that has fifteen board members and more than 50 companies and organizations that pay annual dues to fund the organization. Phoenix Sky Harbor is the state’s largest economic engine and the Support Sky Harbor Coalition represents it well.
